Warms and Cools – Which One Is Right for Your Home?
With Summer coming toward an end, and school, Fall days, and cooler weather not too far off, this seasonal shift is a great time to think about warm and cool colors, how they fit into your home and which is the better choice?
In a traditional color wheel, red, orange, and yellow are your warmer colors, while blue, green, and purple lean cooler. Warm colors tend to evoke more energy, while cooler colors more calm.
However, undertones to a color can make all the difference in whether a color pulls warm or cool. Here’s why – unless a “true” tone, each color has elements of other colors in it to create the many shade options we can choose from. For example, blue, while typically considered a cool color, can have warmer undertones, ultimately giving your room a warmer look and feel.
Neutrals, such as white, gray, and even black, can all tend to warm or cool, depending upon their undertone.
According to this article by Benjamin Moore, warm colors create cozy and intimate spaces, while cool colors contribute to a sleek, yet soothing vibe.
Something to consider is the style of your home and décor. Farmhouse and country looks tend to be cozier, and might lend themselves better to warmer toned paint. On the other hand, more modern and city styles might fare better with cooler paint options.
Check out the article above for more information on how lighting impacts your colors, how to determine if a color is warm or cool, and how to create a color scheme.

Project Spotlight
Bryn Mawr Condo Painting
This month’s Project Spotlight features a small condo. Residents of the condominiums Glen and Peggy, who had previously been clients of ours for their rental properties, referred us to the board member John for the job.
Peggy did the honors of choosing the colors. For the walls she chose Sherwin-Williams Morning Sun SW6672, and for the windows, Sherwin Williams Delft SW9134. This look was a hit amongst the board members and condo community, and the outcome was even better than anticipated.
John’s review highlighted our team’s timeliness and professionalism.
"We are a small condo. Mike was referred to us by a fellow resident who used the company in his rental properties (loved his work)
Mike met with me and we agreed on the job and the price. Quoted a start date and he was right on schedule. Quoted a completion date and was ahead of schedule. Work was done professionally by professionals. AND THE FINISHED PRODUCT WAS BETTER THAN EXPECTED!
I actually hate to be so glowing because I really want Mike to continue to be available to us. But truth be told he and his team are the real deal. Thank you so much!”
